Enjoy a day sail with Aristocat Charters in Tortola, BVI

Captain Steve Wooster was born London, England.
Having learnt to sail at 8 years of age, Steve has
always enjoyed life at sea and spent 7 years in The British Merchant Navy, serving on various ocean liners including Cunards Queen Elizabeth 2.

Following a career in the hospitality industry,
he decided that there was more to life and he left the
U.K. for pastures greener and a warmer sun.

He moved to the Canary Islands, where he ran a
successful day charter boat observing Bottle Nose
Dolphin and Pilot Wales along the south coast of Tenerife.

After 9 years it was time for another move,
and in 2000 Steve embarked on an Atlantic
crossing from Tenerife to Brazil via Cape Verdes.

Sailing on a 38 foot, 30 year old boat with a
74 year old captain (and a few prayers) he arrived
in Brazil following a 25 day crossing.

From there, it was down to Venezuela before
heading to Trinidad and the start of the
Caribbean Island chain.

On arrival in Tortola, Steve decided to purchase
his own boat and spent the next few years ' sailing the Caribbean Islands and having a blast doing it!

Having enjoyed cruising for a couple of years,
he decided it was time to "settle down and
get a real job" so in 2004, he became involved with
Aristocat, working as the Skipper for the existing owner.
Steve purchased the Boat and Business in 2005.

First Mate Gilbo

Born on the small island of Jersey in the English Channel,
Gillan "Gilbo" Simpson has sailed since the age of 2.
He was heavily involved in small boat racing progressing through Optimists, Lasers and eventually on to the junior Olympic class trapeze boat; the 29er.

After finishing school in Jersey Gilbo moved north to
Edinburgh University for 4 years to study zoology.
During his time he met his Girlfriend Emily who has lived
in the BVI since she was a small girl.
He followed her to the sunny island of Tortola in 2007
and has been working with Steve ever since.

Having recently purchased his own boat Gilbo is working
on obtaining his BVI skippers licence and has ambitions
to circumnavigate in the next few years.

Still a racer at heart Gilbo can be seen on various boats
in the regattas around the BVI but whilst not sailing,
you'll probably find him in or on the water surfing,
wakeboarding, diving or doing some sort of water sport.
